Adoptive Issues-Chinadolls

My blog is a journey into the world of my 6 year old's adoption from China and her issues surrounding it. I am a mother who has had two grown children now 23(male) and 20 years old(female). My then 14 year old daughter back then, had come with us to collect Desmond(a girl).

Just a few days ago, she said, "I wonder what my mom was like, if she is alive..".

I said, " I am sure she is just like you, beautiful, loves shoes and clothes."

"In fact, you are probably a mini me version of her."

To which she animated minime from Austin Powers.

It wasn't and isn't always so humorous...

Over a year ago I mentioned to her, during a chinese new year at an FCC function(Families with Children from China) that all the children at the dinner were like her, adopted, loved and happy with families.

Months would pass..until one day while driving up the hill to school, in the back seat, she said,
"If I'm so beautiful and smart, why didn't my mom want me?".

Like a knife that went straight into my gut it felt.
